Sam Boulkind moved to Montréal in the early 20th century and opened a pharmacy on Boulevard Saint-Laurent. He offered mail-order business to Eastern European immigrants across North America and operated in several languages including French, Hungarian, Polish and Ukrainian. Boulkind was also the first Jewish president of the Collège des Pharmaciens du Québec.
