Quebec Network of Acoustic Bat Inventories

Did you know that there is a network of acoustic bat inventories in Quebec?

Shrinking populations

Since the 1950s, bat populations have been shrinking across North America, including in Quebec.

Goal

Michel Delorme, from the Montréal Biodôme, and Jacques Jutras, from the Quebec Department of Natural Resources, Wildlife and Parks, joined efforts in summer 2000 to launch this huge project.

The main goal of the network is to study bats throughout Quebec to help protect the different species and their habitats.
