1492-1511:
The Spanish conquest


Shortly after "discovering" Cuba on October 28, 1492, Columbus left again.

Then in 1511 came the conquest led by Diego Vel?zquez de Cu?llar of Spain.

Soon the island, besieged by the French, British and Dutch, was protected with forts.
