The "Pinta", a small Diesel-engine craft named for Colombus' ship*, was waiting for us at anchor near the wherf. It was fully loaded, with beer, provisions, a goat and a piglet - the indispensable mascot of all these navigators. It was a windy day, with lots of waves.
* It was from the Pinta that land was spotted on October 12, 1492, when Colombus "discovered" America.

A young woman started moaning and calling to our Lady of Charity of El Cobre. It lasted two hours. All at once I understood what Our Lady of Charity represents for the Cuban people, especially the women. Is she not shown standing in the clouds, over people rowing a boat?

Maisi country is a tremendous giant's staircase, one of the loveliest terraced regions in the world, in the Antilles at least.
Senor Alejandro, Master of the Light in Maisi, took us to the lighthouse and introduced us to the loveliest family in the world with fourteen children [eleven of them seen here], where we enjoyed attentive Spanish hospitality.
