Between December 1938 and May 1944, Marie-Victorin went to Cuba seven times spending a total of 16 months there!
Most of his trips were in winter because, as he wrote to Brother Léon from Montréal:
Winter here is terrible.
I'm at my best and in my ecological habitat in the tropics.
And again:
I'm back "on the job" as we say in Canada;
most of the problems awaiting me have more thorns than flowers.
Cuba fills my dreams. I was made for warm climes.
With each trip, Marie-Victorin's interests became increasingly focused.
