Sharing Our Expertise

When it comes to information on plants and gardening, the horticultural experts at the Montréal Botanical Garden are in ever-greater demand. Their contributions, at lectures for the general public or industry symposia, in articles written for specialized magazines and journals and newspapers, and even in books, are always appreciated, both by the public and by horticultural industry professionals here in Montréal and elsewhere.

Education is another major facet of the Garden's work. Since the Montréal Botanical Garden school of horticulture opened in 1979, under the aegis of the Montréal Catholic School Commission, much of the practical training at the school has been given by horticulturists from the Botanical Garden. Some forty future gardeners reap the benefits of their instructors' expertise during their two years of training, offered on the grounds of the Garden itself. In addition, other courses, lectures and workshops are given by Botanical Garden staff at various institutions and through horticultural societies in Québec.

The Botanical Garden has also contributed to the plant health advisory network for Québec plant nurseries since it was set up in 1989. Working with the industry has always been and will remain one of our priorities.
