Opening hours
The Library of the Montréal Botanical Garden is open to the public for on-site consultation only and without appointment :
- From Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 and 1 to 4:30 p.m. (restricted access to the magazine section located on the 2nd floor).
The library is closed on Holidays.

The library is located on level 1 in the Administration Building, and can be reached through the Botanical
Garden Reception Centre, at 4101, rue Sherbrooke Est, Montréal, QC, Canada, H1X 2B2
(Pie-IX metro station).

Since fall 2006, there is no charge for access to the reception area and administration building as well as the public spaces surrounding them.
So, its no longer necessary to pay an entry fee or own a card giving free access such as Friends of the Garden Society or affiliated societies, students, etc.
Please note, however, that
parking is not free for the Library and must be paid at all times.
The only exception is for returning books. For this, our users may use one of the few spaces reserved for the 15 minute unloading zone situated next to the main entrance of the parking lot.

Please note: Rare and old books, historical collections and fragile material are excluded.

Reference & e-mail
- The library does not have the human resources to
answer reference questions by phone, fax or mail. Visitors are asked to consult documentation on-site
according to the opening hours of the library.
- The Horticultural information desk
may answer specific horticultural requests.
- Information requests received through e-mail are answered
according to the Web site e-mail policy, availability of resources and scope of the reference question.

Only staff members of the Botanical Garden, the Muséums nature Montréal and of the Service des Parcs de la Ville de Montréal
may borrow documents.
Members of the Friends of the Montréal Botanical Garden and of the Montréal Bonsai & Penjing Society,
students of Montréal Botanical Garden École d'horticulture and staff and graduate students of IRBV may also benefit from borrowing privileges.
Any other user wishing to borrow documents may refer to our interlibrary loan policy (in French).

Users (except ILL) wishing to renew their loans may use the on-line form. Specify
the user number and that is a renewal.
Please read the following restrictions :
- Only one extension period is allowed.
- Excluded are : new acquisitions, games, magazines and periodicals.
- A confirmation of renewal will be sent to you if the documents have not been requested by an other user.

Using unique information resources, dynamic professionals are contributing their
time and energy to give you an excellent service at the library, at the slide library and through the
Web site.
