Major annual and perennial edible flowers

All flowers from the species grouped in the following table can be picked in the garden, to give your table a little extra touch of originality and romance. Please note that many plants from your vegetable garden, and many trees and shrubs possess flowers that can be eaten.

Common dandelion Taraxacum officinale annual May to June salad, crystallized Young leaves and buds are edible. Pick all the blossoms.
Common sunflower Helianthus annuus annual Aug. to Sept. salad, soup Edible seeds.
Common yarrow Achillea millefolium annual July to Aug. herbal tea, tea, lemonade Leaves and fruit also edible.
Corn flag Gladiolus cv. bulb Aug. to Sept. salad, stuffed, garnish Sweet taste.
Corn poppy Papaver rhoeas annual June to Sept. garnish, syrup Petals only.
Daylily Hemerocallis cv. perennial July to Aug. salad, soup, stuffed, candied Chewable consistency. Peppery after-taste. Buds can be cooked or fried. Possible allergies, test.

Garden hollyhock Alcea rosea biennial July to Aug. salad, crystallized stuffed Edible buds.
Garden snapdragon Antirrhinum majus annual June to Sept. salad, crystallized Strong odour, use moderately.

Pot marigold Calendula officinalis annual June to Sept. salad, soup, butter, sauce, drinks, cookies Saffron substitute. Edible buds.
