Planting Trees and Shrubs

Winter protection

Trees in winter
  • Protect the trunks of young trees from damage by rodents by installing a white, perforated wrap.

  • Protect non-hardy plants for the winter, as well as any trees and shrubs that could be damaged, dried out or exposed to deicing salt. Other plants do not require any protection.

  • Don’t forget to remove the protection in early spring, on a cloudy day.
