Monastery Garden
In the Middle Ages, medicinal and aromatic plants were cultivated within the walls of cloisters.
In fact, Charlemagne passed an ordinance making the practice law in 812.
A number of those plants, including chervil, European wild ginger and spearmint,
can be found clustered around the central well in the Monastery Garden, which adjoins the Québec
Corner and the Medicinal Plant Garden.
