«Chinese Skies»
The World Year of Astronomy is the perfect time for the Chinese Garden to put on a show based on the starry skies … Chinese style! Come see how people interpreted the sky in the Middle Kingdom, the instruments they used and the fabulous creatures they saw in the heavens.
The Planetarium also invites you to join its staff and amateur astronomers for some stargazing from September 17 to October 29, on Thursday from 6:30 to 9 p.m.

Lacquer is a substance with astounding properties collected from trees using traditional techniques, and applied to both utilitarian and decorative objects. Lacquerware exists in many countries, but in Japan this art has reached truly remarkable levels of refinement, a tribute to the finesse of Japanese esthetics. The exhibition invites visitors to learn all about lacquer – how it is collected, processed and used – and to admire a superb collection of pieces made by members of the Japan Urushi Art and Craft Association.
