Join us for the Chinese Garden’s 20th anniversary and admire the 19th edition of the Magic of Lanterns at the Montréal Botanical Garden, on the theme of
“The First Emperor’s Procession”. From September 9 to October 31, stroll through a glittering, colourful exhibition of some 200 new lanterns portraying the first
Chinese Emperor, Qin Shi Huangdi, soldiers, horse-drawn chariots, sections of the Great Wall of China and many musical instruments from that time (gongs, drums and bells)

Paper, Beyond Words

Paper plays a tremendous role in Japanese culture, transformed into clothing, dolls, works of art, architectural elements and ritual or everyday objects.
Generations of artisans have made washi, the splendid "Japanese paper" that coexists today with yôshi, or "Western paper".
Both types remain much more than a simple medium for writing.
