WARNING: exotic invasive insect pests
Emerald ash borer and Asian long-horned beetle, both exotic insect pests, pose a serious threat to Montréal’s urban forests. To date, no specimens of either species have been found in the city of Montréal. However, on June 28, 2008, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) confirmed the presence of emerald ash borer in Carignan, Montérégie, on Montréal’s south shore. Asian long-horned beetles have not yet been seen in Quebec.

The city of Montréal is closely monitoring the possible arrival of these and other exotic pests and is asking everyone to help watch for them.
