Tree House


Opening up the northwest passage!

The northern part of the Arboretum was developed in the mid-1960s, when the city's former municipal quarry was filled in. While the different collections grew While the different collections grew steadily over the years, it was not until the Tree House opened in 1996 that this large part of the site was really "grafted onto" the Garden and the community. The Arboretum now has an interpretation centre focussing on trees and forests. And the Tree House will 25 in 2021!

1995. The future site of the Tree House was under study. It was finally decided to locate it next to the pond, near Rosemont Boulevard.

 


Fun and games at the Tree House. It's a great place for schoolchildren, where they can enjoy outdoor learning activities like a Tree Rally.

An ecological showcase

The pond, which was rather sorry looking a few decades ago, had a total facelift in 2002. The banks were rebuilt, it was dug out in spots and many native plants were added, giving it a second life. Long may it continue to flourish!
