A ?bohio", that rudimentary shack ...

... that houses a rural Cuban and his family in this fortunate country where a house is barely more than a parasol, the bohio owes everything to the Royal Palm.

Marie-Victorin photographed the family of 7-year-old Digna Caridad, who claimed to see the Virgin Mary and baby Jesus.

It seems that she is destined for sainthood! But let us not judge too hastily.

We passed a bohio-school ...

Inside were very tidy desks. The young teacher was happy to pose in front of her school, with the Cuban flag, and her official diploma. This school is certainly evidence of a sincere effort to better educate the next generation.

Marie-Victorin was right: the literacy rate in Cuba today is 97%!
