Pinar del R?o: also the province of lagoons

Brother L?on does not want to wrap up our plant collecting season without visiting those special habitats, lagoons.

The fields where they are currently harvesting are fenced off from the road by a tight palisade made of the slender, half-scorched trunks of Everglades Palms, Acoelorraphe Wrightii.

Next to a vast lagoon.
It feels almost like the Great Lakes in North America.

Living hedge of Acoelorraphe Wrightii. Marie-Victorin noted
how effective such barriers were, for termites would easily devour a traditional fence!
