Narrow-leaf zamia

Zamia angustifolia
Zamiaceae

Species collected in Cuba by Brother L?on. Arrived at the Montr?al Botanical Garden on April 29, 1939, as a rhizome.

While we were dining at the hotel, they brought us, carefully wrapped in Royal Palm "yaguas" (stalks) - used by everyone here as wrapping paper - some fine and very complete Zamia angustifolia specimens, with their rhizomes and their male and female strobiles. Before stripping the plants of their leaves and their strobiles, in order to send the rhizomes to the Montr?al Botanical Garden, in Canada, and the Soledad Botanical Garden, in Cuba, we took a full set of detailed photographs, using the smooth trunk of a Royal Palm as a backdrop.
