Lea Roback contributed to the campaign and election of Fred Rose, who was first elected in a by-election as a Labour Progressive and then, in 1945, as Canada's only Communist Member of Parliament. Like many others, Roback left the Communist Party in the 1950s, but maintained her belief in workers' rights and socialist values.
