In World War 2 these tea trucks were used extensively by the Y in Canada and overseas to offer sustenance and support to soldiers in convoys, on manoeuvers, and near the battlefront. The Montréal Y also operated one of their Red Triangle social clubs ("a home away from home") on Phillips Square.
