Rockhead's Paradise

Rufus Rockhead opened this club in 1928 at de la Montagne and St-Antoine Streets. Rockhead's was famous for friendly hospitality, top-quality black entertainment, and feature-act floorshows. This legendary club went through some difficult times in the 1950s and 1960s; it closed its doors in 1977 and the building was demolished in 1980. Photo by Émile of Montréal.
