Irving Layton
Poets Irving Layton (1912-2006), Frank R. Scott (1899-1985) and Louis Dudek (1918-2001).
The famous poet Layton graduated from McGill with a Master's in Economics and Political Science (1946). Frank R. Scott, whose diverse interests included constitutional law and poetry, joined the McGill Faculty of Law in 1928 and was its Dean from 1961 to 1964. Louis Dudek taught modern poetry at McGill between 1951 and 1984. These three poets contributed greatly to the evolution of Canadian poetry during the second half of the 20th century.
