A noise barrierSome of the soil excavated when the ponds were dug out was used to create an embankment stretching along Pie-IX, marking the Botanical
Garden's western boundary and blocking out noise from the city beyond.
This is a good example of Henry Teuscher's farsightedness, for automobile
traffic in 1937 was nothing like what it is today. As greenery was added over the years, the embankment performed its job better and better. Thank you, Mr. Teuscher!
