A world-class centre of excellence in biodiversity research and preservation.
The Biodiversity Centre created in 2011 aims to:
- allow long-term conservation and digitisation of major plant, insect and fungi collections
- develop innovative research programs and train young experts in disciplines relevant for the inventory of biodiversity
- coordinate the networking of _and international access to_ the databases of major biological collections of Canadensys
- increased public awareness of the importance of inventorying and preserving biodiversity
Like the Institut de recherche en biologie végétale, the Centre represents an excellent example of the longstanding partnership between the Université de Montréal and the Montréal Botanical Garden.
