In the summer of 1951, Jacques Rousseau visits the Adloylik fjord, up to the eastern side of Ungava Bay. Then he explores the Koroc river and the Torngat Mountains on the border between Quebec and Labrador. The team of this expedition is composed of six people: Rousseau and his 15 year-old son François, geologist Malcolm Ritchie, the Swiss-born painter René Richard (1895-1982) and two guides, Antoine Grégoire and Inuit Ituk Moses, who will also serve as cooks and porters.

The expedition takes place from July 12 to August 18, 1951. An Eskimo schooner is available to the team to facilitate the exploration. The team and sail aboard a 125 Peterhead along the fjord Adloylik from July 13 to 20. It will take two days of navigation on Ungava Bay to the mouth of the river Korok from the Adloylik fjord. A brief stop at the mouth of the river Korok will meet the family of Moses Ituk installed for the summer. The canoe expedition continues along the Korok river, July 23 to August 6. Returned to the position of the George River, part of the team that will join Dr. I. W. Jones, chief geologist of Quebec, will take a military plane to Fort Chimo. The visit of the crater Chubb will take place on August 15, 1951. Discovered just eight years earlier, this crater in northern Quebec has been caused by a meteorite and was then visited by few scientists.
