"Each plant has to be part of its environment. Different environments produce different effects. It cannot be over-emphasized how important it is to evaluate plant in different climatic conditions", wrote Felicitas Svejda.


Therefore, prior to approval as a potential hybrid for any marketing with its own name, each plant selected had to be tested in different locations and under different climatic conditions. Several gardens and nurseries in Canada and the United States have contributed to these evaluation tests.


The Montréal Botanical Garden has participated in cooperative trials of new roses, as evidenced by the form shown here.

Scope and content:
Series on the first network of national tests for ornamental shrubs created by the Ottawa Research Station in 1968. It includes a list of cooperating institutions and nurseries for the program and the results compiled by Mrs. Felicitas Svejda for some selections obtained between 1979 and 1985.
