Alan DeSousa

Alan DeSousa is the Mayor of Saint-Laurent and City Councillor for Ville de Montréal. He previously served as Municipal Councillor for Ville de Saint-Laurent from 1990 to 2001. Furthermore, he sat as a member of the Ville de Montréal Executive for 11 years, and more recently, he served as Vice-Chair. During these years, Mr. DeSousa was responsible for finance and administration, economic development, long-term planning, hydraulic infrastructures, environment and parks, as well as for sustainable development.

With respect to the Montréal Metropolitan Region, he has served as a member of the Communauté métropolitaine de Montréal (CMM) Executive Committee since 2000 and as a member of the Board since 2002. He also sat on the Agglomeration Council from 2006 to 2012. Furthermore, Mr. DeSousa is an active participant on several boards of directors: Centre financier international, Technoparc Montréal and the Association de bienfaisance et de retraite des policiers et policières de la Ville de Montréal.

In the private sector, he served as Vice-President, Corporate Finance, at BioChem Pharma, a publicly owned Canadian company. It also worked as a corporate tax specialist in international taxation at Ernst & Young. The Ordre des comptables agréés du Québec awarded him the title of Fellow in 2005. Throughout these years, his social involvement in numerous community and charitable organizations has never ceased.

A resident of Saint-Laurent for more than 40 years, Mr. DeSousa is married to Florence Beaudet and is the father of two boys, Martin and Victor. Close to his community, he is known to the people of Saint-Laurent quite simply as "Alan".
