MCM landslide in 1986

In November of that year, the MCM won a resounding victory.  Jean Doré, leader of the party, was elected mayor of Montréal by over 200 000 votes, or 68%.  The MCM has 55 candidates, 15 of whom were women, out of a possible total of 58.

It was the party’s crowning glory after 12 years in the municipal arena.  The average age of elected representative was 39, and only 14 MCM councillors had experience on the local political scene.
