Still Not Sure?
If you have doubts about the identity of a suspicious rock, and you want to know if it really is a meteorite, several resources are available to you. You can contact the science museum or planetarium closest to you, a university geology department, the Geological Survey of Canada, or a member of the Meteorites and Impacts Advisory Committee. At these institutions, scientists will conduct more complex tests to determine the nature of your find. Often, a simple visual examination allows an expert to determine that it is not a meteorite.
