Her archives

Felicitas Svejda archives were acquired by the Library of the Montr?al Botanical Garden in 2010, thanks to Claire Laberge, then horticulturist of the Rose Garden of the Botanical Garden.

The description of Fonds JBM 10 and the digitization and online publication of a number of sub-series were done in 2014.

Scope and content:
Fonds on genetic research and hybridizations performed by Ms. Felicitas Svejda, creator of Explorer roses and other hardy shrubs grown in Canada in private and public gardens.

Fonds containing the following series: S1 - Selections; S2 - List of roses; S3 - Cooperative Trials / Shipments; S4 - Recordings of roses and other ornamental shrubs; S5 -Rosiers Explorer; S6 - Test Garden and Rose Garden; S7 - Documentation for research and publication; S8 - Correspondence.

Immediate source of acquisition: Textual records of this fonds were collected by Felicitas Svejda and acquired February 18, 2010 for the archives of the Montr?al Botanical Library by Claire Laberge horticulturist at the Rose Garden from 1989 to 2013.

Source of title proper: Title based on the contents of the fonds.

Condition: Several documents are fragile.

Classification: Documents are classified by types of activities and by year.

Language of documents: Most documents are in English. Some documents are in German or French.

Access restrictions: Since it contains identifying information, the consultation of the correspondence is restricted.

Finding aids: 2 indexes included in the Fonds and a virtual exhibition found through the Montr?al Botanical Garden Millefolium Library catalog where the records series 1 to 6 that have been digitized are available in an electronic format.
