Manufacturers
In the manufacturing sector, Saint-Laurent now boasts more than 800 companies that provide employment for more than 44,000 workers. In fact, 42% of jobs in Saint-Laurent are concentrated in this sector. These companies include Natrel Inc., Robert Mitchell inc., and toy manufacturers Wrebbit Inc. and Jouets Ritvik, the latter of which employs over 1,000 workers.
Pharmaceutical industries
One third of all jobs in the pharmaceutical sector in the Montréal region are based in Saint-Laurent. The fifty or so companies located here employ more than 4,300 people. Wyeth, Phœnix International Sciences de la Vie Inc., Neurochem and Laboratoires Bio-Santé Inc. are among the biggest.
Information technologies and communications
Saint-Laurent is one of the biggest hubs for the telecommunications industry in Quebec. Nortel Networks, AT&T Canada, Compaq Canada Inc. and Bell Mobilité are among the 380 companies active in this field, which provides employment for more than 20,000 people.
Aerospace
The aerospace industry, which constitutes one of Saint-Laurent's leading industrial sectors, comprises some fifty companies that provide employment for 14,600 people. Employers in this field account for more than 50% of all aerospace jobs on Montréal Island. Companies such as Bombardier Aerospace and CAE Electronics both of which have operated on its territory for more than fifty years, make this activity sector one of Saint-Laurent's biggest economic successes.
