Saint-Laurent is the product of the tremendous efforts of a few colonists who came to settle on the Island of Montréal near the end of the 17th Century.
Its history has been marked by milestones that have sculpted and enhanced its uniqueness, from both territorial and social perspectives. More than 280 years elapsed between the date of the canonic erection of the parish in 1720 and the latter half of the 20th Century, when Saint-Laurent garnered its status as the second leading industrial city in Quebec.
Nearly three centuries have elapsed since the history of Saint-Laurent began. Its people and their endeavours have helped the municipality to become established and gain both national and international recognition. |
